MOHFW has updated VVM guidelines on the oral Rotavac vaccine to change the location of the Vaccine Vial Monitor, which was initially on the cap of the vial, to the label of the vaccine vial.
The open multi-dose policy is applicable only to this new presentation of the vaccine. Implementation of the Open Vial Policy allows the reuse of partially used multi-dose vials of applicable vaccines under the universal immunization policy to prevent wastage of medication.
The vaccine schedule will remain the same, that is a 3-dose schedule at 6 weeks, 10 weeks, and 14 weeks. It is to be stored at -50°C to -25°C till district stores and then at 2°C to 8°C at the sub-district level.
